Happy Thanksgiving!
over 10 years ago – Wed, Nov 25, 2015 at 12:53:51 PM

Hello everyone!

As many of you know, it’s Thanksgiving week here in the United States! We’ve been working very hard on the Xbox One and VR versions of the game along with a few other things that we’ll share more about relatively soon. As such, the Nevermind team will be taking a small vacation this week to rest up before the exciting months ahead.

However, before we settle in for a few days of relaxation, in the spirit of the holiday we wanted to take a moment to thank you, our awesome supporters, once again for making all this happen and being with us every step of the way. Your feedback, kind words, and of course, willingness to invest your own time and money into making this dream happen means the world to us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

To celebrate the holiday, we’ll be offering Nevermind for 20% off on Steam, the Humble Store*, and (starting today) Green Man Gaming for the rest of the week! So, if you’ve enjoyed Nevermind and know someone who might also enjoy it, feel free to point them toward the Autumn Sale!

(Note: To purchase from the Humble Store, please do so from the widget on our front page to take advantage of the sale. It seems like the sale hasn’t quite kicked in on Humble’s storefront).

Also, we wanted to call attention to two crowdfunding campaigns ending soon that I’d encourage you to check out:

Help Kill Screen Reinvent Their Magazine (13 Days Left!)

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/killscreen/help-kill-screen-reinvent-their-magazine

For those of you who aren’t aware, Kill Screen is one of the most highly respected sources of video game journalism and critique. Nevermind has even had the honor of Nevermind being mentioned a few times!

Some sample pieces about Nevermind directly from KillScreen:

They’re hoping to take Kill Screen further, but they need your help to do so. With only a tiny way to go before they hit their goal, please consider becoming a part of this effort!

Here is what others have said about Kill Screen:

Indivisible - RPG from the Creators of Skullgirls (10 Days Left!)

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/indivisible-rpg-from-the-creators-of-skullgirls#/

Skullgirls was one of the first great gaming crowdfunding success stories, and they have consistently maintained a high bar for how they handle their campaigns, the transparency they offer into the development process, and the incredible support they show all of their backers.

As a both a fan of Skullgirls and good friends with several folks involved in Indivisible, I know that this game will be spectacular if it is fully funded! It’s obviously a very different type of game than Nevermind, but if you enjoy clever RPG gameplay with platforming/metroidvania elements, interesting (and beautiful!) character and environment designs, and a neat story, then please check it out and consider being a part of this game!

Alright, that’s it for now! Thank you so much and, whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving or not, have a wonderful week ahead!

Thankful,

Art Book Update
over 10 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2015 at 10:11:50 AM

Hi Everyone!

We’ve been posting a lot about the game itself lately, but I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted about some of the other things that we’ve been up to. This update is specifically about concept art - which will be in support of both the Art Book and the Original Concept Art rewards!

Thus far, I’ve been touching up some pre-existing art and creating brand new concepts for the future levels we hope we’ll be able to make. As a tease, here are a few “mood pieces” for Nevermind - concept art that is generally a bit more abstract and intended to explore the emotional and atmospheric setting and themes for an area or moment. Of the three pieces shown here, two were for Client #418 and one is a sneak peek into what we have in mind for a new level (if we have the opportunity to create it).

These are created in mixed media - primarily paint and ink. There will be more details about each individual piece in the art book (along with many more pieces, of course). I know we haven’t shared much concept art in the past, but if this is something you’re interested in seeing more of, we can share more in future updates - just let us know!

Econia

This is the final week for Econia, a “cute” game about the complexities of capitalism. This is a project that one of my very good friends has been working on for a while - and a game that, all biases aside, I’m genuinely really excited about! It tackles complicated but interesting questions with a quirky sense of humor and I really hope that it’s able to be made. If you’re looking to support a worthy, off-beat project, I’d encourage you to check it out!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1527063733/econia

As always, thank you all SO much for all of your support. Please continue to help spread the word about Nevermind and, if you enjoyed it, please leave a positive review on Steam. As you know, if we have a successful holiday season on Steam, that will hopefully mean everyone will get a brand new level as a belated gift in the New Year! :)

Forever grateful,

Erin and the Nevermind Team

Happy Anniversary!!
over 10 years ago – Tue, Nov 03, 2015 at 10:52:10 PM

And you thought we forgot. ;)

I can’t believe it’s been one year since this Kickstarter campaign was funded - and BECAUSE OF YOU it has been an amazing 12 months since! Bringing Nevermind to Mac (done!), Oculus Rift (soon!), and Xbox One (sooner!) has been possible only because of your generous support. Furthermore, the fact that we support several sensors (with more currently in development) is also all because of you. We’ve come a long way in only one year and it has been a pleasure and privilege to have you all by our side the entire time! Thank you for being a part of making this wild dream a reality and for helping to spread the word about Nevermind!

As it so happens, I’ve been talking a lot lately about how great this Kickstarter experience has been. At IndieCade a couple of weeks ago, I gave a presentation on Crowdfunding Experimental Games. Also, last week Cliqist posted both an interview and an article written by me:

“Through Swamps and Deserts: Nevermind’s Journey as Told Through its Crowdfunding Process” :

Last but not least, I’ll be a guest on Kickstarter’s Creator Hangouts program TOMORROW (11/4) at 10am PT / 1pm ET. I’m super excited and hope that some of you will be able to join us for it!

Thank you for making this the best year ever! Here’s to another amazing year together ahead!

IndieCade & a chance to win a IomPE sensor!
over 10 years ago – Fri, Oct 23, 2015 at 12:11:56 AM

Hi Everyone!

The Nevermind team and I are SO EXCITED to be showing off Nevermind at IndieCade this weekend! As you know, Nevermind has been selected as a IndieCade Festival 2015 Award Nominee (which is a big deal) and not only is it up for a number of awards alongside several other incredible games it will be showcased at the festival itself.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, please swing by and say hi - the whole team and I will be there and we’d love to meet you! (Not to mention that IndieCade in and of itself is a ton of fun)

Also! There is about one week left to enter into Cliqist’s sensor giveaway! As part of their October 2015 Crowdfunded Game of the Month, Cliqist is covering various aspects of Nevermind and have already posted a few fantastic pieces about the game. You can check some of them out (and enter into the giveaway) here:

We’ve also had a few other wonderful reviews and pieces on Nevermind recently that are definitely worth reading/watching! Here are a few:

That’s the update for now and we all hope to see some of you at IndieCade this weekend!

Best,
Erin & the Nevermind team!

Week 1 of Launch!
over 10 years ago – Tue, Oct 06, 2015 at 10:54:29 PM

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for a wonderful first week with Nevermind fully launched in the real world (well, for Mac and Windows, at least)! Your tweets, Facebook shares, kind reviews, and everything else you’ve done to help spread the word means the world to us - especially during this exciting but somewhat nerve-wracking time! :)

I wanted to send an update to let you all know that launch is going well (again, with many thanks to your efforts to share it with friends)! The team and I have been incredibly busy responding to the many questions about Nevermind posted on Steam or via email, meeting with awesome media folks who are interested in the game (we’ve recently posted some of the great coverage from this week on our Facebook page), and preparing for the next phase ahead! With that, we have a couple of cool updates!

Cliqist Crowdfunded Game of the Month!

We’re so honored to have been chosen as Cliqist’s crowdfunded game of the month! Check the site frequently this month, as there will be new articles about Nevermind (including one possibly written by yours truly) and - perhaps most excitingly - a chance to win a FREE Wild Divine IomPE sensor!!

Add-Ons!

With the game launched, we’re going to return to focusing on our remaining Backer commitments - including Xbox One and Oculus Rift development and Backer rewards! With that, those of you who ordered an extra key add-on should be getting it in the very near future (either today or tomorrow, most likely). We’ll have more updates on the other rewards in the coming weeks. As always, if you have any questions about or run into any issues with your rewards, don't hesitate to let us know at [email protected].

IndieCade!

IndieCade is coming up soon (10/23-10/25). If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you should definitely swing by and check it out (and make sure to say hi to us if you’re there - Nevermind will be demoing and is up for a number of awards)! More information can be found here: http://www.indiecade.com/.

Reviews!

Finally, if you enjoyed Nevermind and haven’t done so already, we humbly ask that you please consider sharing a little bit of your experience with Nevermind via the Steam reviews!

Every sale will go right back into making game bigger and better moving forward - so, by sharing your (hopefully!) positive experiences with the game, you’ll help others who are potentially interested in picking up Nevermind decide to give it a go. :)

Thank you so much again and, as always, if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to say hello, you can always reach us at [email protected]

We <3 you guys,

Erin & the Nevermind Team
